NDCP Varsity vs Nazareth Academy

On October 3rd, 2015 the NDCP Varsity team hosted Nazareth Academy at Legend's Field for Senior Day. The Dons came in knowing they would need a strong performance to compete with a quality Nazareth team that received a #5 seed in their IHSA 2A sectional. The game was very even throughout the first 40 minutes, as the score went into half 0-0. As the second half began, it became evident the 2015 seniors did not want to go out on a losing note. The Dons outplayed and outworked the Roadrunners. In the 63rd minute, Senior midfielder Jack Wernet slipped a through ball to Junior forward Diego Berganza. Berganza slipped the ball past the Nazareth GK to give ND a 1-0 lead. In the end, 1 goal proved to be all we needed. Our GK Conor O'Neill and the defense were phenomenal down the stretch to preserve the shutout.

2015 Highlight Tape, NDCP GK Conor O'Neill

Highlight video of Dons GK, Conor O'Neill. O'Neill was outstanding for the Varsity team all year, and a big reason why 6 of our 8 wins came on shutouts. Conor was recognized for his achievements on the pitch this year with several impressive awards:

Chicago Tribune October Athlete of the Month

ESCC Conference's Goalie of the Year

NDCP Offseason Training Workouts

These are some good examples of fast footwork exercises that you can work on. Ladders are accessible at the school. Coaches will be bringing ladders as well. You can also do this with cones, or even without cones/ladders. These drills will help you improve your agility and footwork.

In addition to these, see the below video for some fast footwork drills using a ball. These are things you can practice at ND, in your backyard, or at a park near your house. EVERY player should be working with the ball for 25-30 minutes/day.
