NDCP Vasrsity team beats Nazareth Academy on 2015 Senior Day 1-0 to notch a huge ESCC Conference win
Latest News
The NDCP Soccer program's season came to an end on October 20th as the Varsity team fell to #1 seed Evanston in the IHSA regional semifinals. It was an oustanding year for the program as a whole, as several historic accomplishment were made. There is a lot of encouraging things to look forward to in the future. Here is a brief recap of each teams season....
VARSITY
The Varsity team came into the season having lost 7 starters from a 2014 team that won only 2 games. Defying the odds, the team quadrupled that win total, achieving 8 victories on the 2015 season (2nd most in the last 10 years). The team won more conference games than a ND Varsity team has won since 2002. They took back the Irish Cup from archrival St. Patrick HS with a 1-0 win. They won on Senior Day vs the #5 seed in 2A, Nazareth Academy. In the first round of the IHSA state playoffs, the Dons achieved a dramatic come from behind victory vs Taft HS (2-1, 5-4 in PKs). Down 1-0, the Dons leveled the game with 1:54 to go in regulation.
JUNIOR VARSITY
The Junior Varsity began the year with high expetations as they returned a core group of sophomores to the program who had an oustanding 2014 campaign at the freshmen level. However, there was also some uncertainty, as the squad pulled up five current freshmen (four of which started right off the bat). The JV team surpassed expectations, soaring to a 12-6-1 finish, and the best JV record in school history. They finished fourth in the ESCC Conference (out of 9). The JV squad also finished the year going 7-2-1 in their final 10 games. Among the top highlights for the season-- Beating Niles North in their own tournament and nearly winning the whole thing; Tieing state powerhouse St. Viator 1-1; Winning back the Irish Cup from St. Patrick HS.
FRESHMEN
We entered the 2015 season with more freshmen trying out for soccer than we have EVER had before at NDCP (35). After several cuts, 1 freshmen getting moved up to Varsity, and 5 freshmen getting moved up to JV, teh 2015 freshmen roster was all set. The team continued to grow and progress throughout the 2015 season as they faced a very difficult schedule. Among their top moments from the season: Beating Glenbrook South 4-0; Beating Niles West 1-0; Beating Marian Central 2-1; Keeping the Irish Cup and beating St. Patrick HS 3-0.

I am extremely proud of all of the players who were a part of the 2015 NDCP Soccer program. Special shoutout to all the senior players on a phenomenal four years!
I hope every player at the younger levels saw not only the success the seniors had, but more importantly, the effort they put in. We have A LOT of potential, and skill, at every class from Freshmen-Junior right now. However, NOW is the time by which you seperate yourselves from the competition. How much work are you willing to put in over the offseason to take you above and beyond your competition?
“Its not about perfect. Its about effort. And when you bring that effort every single day, thats where transformation happens. That's how change occurs."
